Hello, nice to meet you

Hello baby! We got to see you for the first time today and we were just over the moon excited! You are really real! The doctor confirmed that you are definitely in there (As if we didn't already know and love you.). We heard your little heartbeat! That was so amazing! Thanks for waving hello to us. You are so smart you already know what to do when you meet someone for the first time. (Gah. My kid's a genius.) We found out you are suppose to arrive February 5th! That's a few days sooner than we thought! You are just beautiful (the picture was a little blurry but I'm pretty sure you are the most gorgeous baby ever)!

The story of our first prenatal appointment:
I was super super nervous. I don't do well at doctors- the needles, the blood. Can't deal. (I know-- I'm in for a long ride aren't I?). Matt took half the day off work so he could be by my side and mainly so he could see the baby! We walked into the ultrasound lab and were called to the back before I even finished filling out the huge stack of paperwork. The ultrasound tech was very wonderful and nice and funny, but we must have been her 1000th client that day. She was quick and to the point, "All right, get undressed, sit right here, this won't hurt a bit, yup, there's a baby in there! There's the head, there's the rump. Yup, just one in there. I've never miscounted before. Here's the heartbeat. Get your phone out and take a video. I'll print the picture. I'll leave you two alone a second while you get dressed. No streaking down the hall." And that was that. Alrighty then. It took all of 5 minutes. It was just like a normal brake check or something except we were checking for a baby. We didn't have a moment to cry or laugh. It was an anti-climactic, yet wonderful moment. Next, we headed to the OBGYN office for my exam. Cue the nerves! Luckily they didn't do blood work today, but next time she said I will think she's a vampire. Yikes! The scariest part was seeing how much weight I've gained already. Oh well. We got to ask the doctor a million questions. She went over the list of foods I could eat. Turns out a little Dr. Pepper is fine- thank you God! And then I went right back to work like nothing had happened. (I haven't told anyone at work yet). I couldn't get much work done though. Too excited! Of course I was texting everyone the video and photos!
